I will focus on proactive changes, work hard for teachers, students, and the community, and break barriers that will build bright futures for our students at Collier County Schools.
Over the period of time that I have been in the human resources and payroll industry I’ve had the opportunity to meet with many Collier County business owners and organizations. The message is clear! There are not enough candidates to fill the gap of employees that need to be hired! Out of these discussions I have developed a strong desire be a candidate for Collier County District 5 School Board. My vision began in Naples, FL with my husband Rick. We have raised four Collier County students and my daughter currently attends a middle school in the district.
My professional background makes me uniquely qualified to be a positive addition to the Collier County School Board. After graduating with my Bachelors Degree from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, I moved to Florida and started my career in the human resources and payroll industry. While my children were in school I earned my Master’s Degree in Management and Human Resources and became certified in Human Resource Management (PHR). I am currently working on my doctorate in business management and marketing from Capella University.
All students should be afforded the same level of excellence when it comes to their education. Their education is an investment – not an expense. Collier County has to invest in our future workforce and focus on the needs of this economy. All young people need a set of skills and attributes that will prepare them for both employment and workforce learning. Students can be prepared for a career of their choice whether it starts in college, trade school, or the military.
My focus is clear: to create an environment where every student has the opportunity to succeed. This requires Collier County Schools to create a career minded curriculum, workforce ready electives, strong business outreach programs with internship programs, collaboration with teachers and community educators, advanced placement of college courses, vocational and career-technical courses. My goal as school board member is to promote collaboration with teachers, parents, administrators, and Collier businesses.
My career at Paychex, Inc. has allowed me to work closely with Collier County businesses and organizations. I am a member of HR Collier, Business Networking International (BNI), and serve my community as co – chairwoman of NAF academies district advisory board. My campaign promise is clear, simple and achievable. My decisions are based on my educational experience, principles that benefits students and teachers, and creativity that brings together this community and Collier County Schools. My voice is to promote successful learning environments, safe working conditions for teachers, a work-life balance for all Collier County School employees, and refocus all efforts on our public school system.
